Obituary from the Sonora newspaper, "The Banner".

Nils Liljedahl, one of the finest old gentlemen that ever made Tuolumne County his home, passed out of this life into eternity very quietly last Monday morning at about 5 o'clock.

Friday evening he had been at the home of his son Martin Liljedahl and had taken a newspaper to his home just a few yards away. Next morning when Martin went over to greet his father, as was his daily custom, he found him lying on the couch in an unconscious condition. It was apparent that the old man had reclined upon the couch to read the paper and there suffered a stroke which prevented any suffering and produced a sleep which brought death a short time later.

Deceased was a native of Sweden, over 93 years of age, fifty or more of which had been passed in this section. He was the most active man of our acquaintance for his great age, driving to town every few days and seeing, hearing and otherwise enjoying the use of his faculties and the pleasure of living as do persons many years his junior.

The funeral services were held from the home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev. Alexander Murray of the Episcopal Church in charge and Undertaker Burden arranging affairs. The body was taken to the family plot in Columbia for interment. Pall bearers were G. P. Morgan, Joseph Francis, H.O. Ball, Ed Garrett, William Sweeney and Peter Barendregt.

Besides the son above named, deceased leaves one daughter, Mrs. Elna Peterson, of Columbia and two grandsons. (The grandsons were Martin Jr. and Charles.)

We extend our sympathy to the bereaved.
