A memorial service for Zorada J. Hanks will be held Thursday, February 10th at 3:00 PM at Lafayette Community Church. The church is located at 365 3rd St in Lafayette, OR.

Zorada J. Hanks, age 76, died February 2, 2011 at 12:45pm at the South Jordan Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT. She was born July 10th, 1934 in North Powder, Oregon to Chester and Endora May.
Zorada's family lived near Corbett, OR and she graduated Corbett High School in 1953. In 1955 she married Lotis Roy Hanks; they lived on a farm, raised cattle and did custom farming for others in the Springdale & Corbett area.
They adopted two children at birth, John in 1964 and Lisa in 1968.
In 1969, they moved to Carlton, OR where they farmed 500 acres until 1974. In 1974 they moved to Lafayette and Zorada was a homemaker and worked for MACORE Company, Inc. in Lafayette for many years. Later, she drove a school bus and was also a security guard.
Zorada participated in running the different businesses that she and Lotis owned over the years. She was also an active member of Lafayette Community Church. Zorada was a good mother to John and Lisa and enjoyed growing flowers and a vegetable garden. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing in church. Many people still cherish the wonderful afghans that she knitted.
Zorada is survived by her children: John Hanks of Sedro-Woolley, WA and Lisa Harris of Herriman UT; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Se is also survived by her sisters, Joretta Ferrington of Oregon and Ester of North Dakota and brother Donald May of Oregon and Wymard of California
Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. At the family's request, donations in lieu of flowers may be deposited at any OnPoint Community Credit Union. The account is the Zorada J. Hanks Memorial Fund.
