BAXTER –Funeral services for Arvil Vance Burgess, 63, of Rt. 1, Baxter, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Baxter Funeral Home, with Bro. Bradie Reed officiating. Burial will be in the Smellage Cemetery.
Mr. Burgess, a native of Putnam County, was dead on arrival at Cookeville General Hospital Sunday, April
24, 1983. He was the son of the late Winfield and Martha Franklin Burgess; members of the Church of God; construction workers with Mills Construction Co.
His family includes his wife, Gennie Oaks Burgess of Baxter; five sons, Jimmy Vance Burgess of Cookeville, Richard Burgess, Douglas Burgess, Donny Burgess and Tony Burgess all of Baxter; three daughters, Ruby Maynard of Silver Point, Eris Bryant of Baxter, and Eula J. Gentry of Cookeville; four brothers, Haskell and Ernest Burgess, both of Cookeville; Bernice and Carl Burgess, both of Baxter; a sister Cleo Whittaker of Cookeville; 13 grandchildren and 1 greatgrandchild of Cookeville.
