Riverside, Calif. - Esther Hettich Lammle passed away Oct. 24, 2005, at her home in Riverside with her brothers and sisters at her bedside. Esther was born Sept. 28, 1934, on a farm outside of Roscoe, S.D., to Fred and Rosalia Hettich. She attended school in Montpelier Township, graduated from Roscoe High School in 1952 and from Aberdeen School of Commerce in 1954, while working part time at Daniel's Pharmacy. She worked for the Navy Department in Washington, D.C., and in 1956, married Arnold Lammle of Roscoe. She then worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs at Aberdeen, S.D., Parker, Ariz., Tappenish, Wash., Portland, Ore., and Riverside, Calif., until her retirement in 1989. Mrs. Lammle again began working as a stenographer with the City of Riverside Planning Department and retired a second time in 1999. She is survived by four brothers and two sisters, Lawrence (LaVerne) Hettich of Java, S.D., Raymond Hettich of Missoula, Mont., Ervin Hettich of Phoenix, Ariz., Wilbert (Viola) Hettich of Selby, S.D., Deloris (Myron) Lehr of Roscoe, and Elsie (Clifford) Hanson of Spearfish, S.D. Preceding her in death were her parents, three infant brothers and sisters, two sisters, Lenora Sawyer and Ella Adam, and three brothers, Arnold, Harold and Ernest. Esther was a member of Faith Lutheran Church since 1968. Private family memorial services were held Oct. 24, 2005, at Riverside. Public memorial services were held Monday, Oct. 31, at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church at Riverside. In lieu of flowers, she's requested memorials be sent to Faith Lutheran Church at Riverside. Her wishes were that her body be donated to medical science of the State of California and then the remains be laid to rest at the Roscoe Cemetery at a later date.
