Peck and Peck Funeral Home - Copake, NY-Carney, James Patrick, 64 of Route 23 in Hillsdale, N.Y. (Columbia Co.) died on Sunday April 10, 2005 in Canaan, CT. He was born on April 24, 1940 in Mountcharles County, Ireland The son of the late James and Catherine (Pierse) Carney. Mr. Carney had been a local resident for the past 16 years and was the owner of the Holiday House Motel in Hillsdale. Previously he resided on Long Island. A veteran of the United States Army, he served his country from 1960 - 1963. Prior to owning the Holiday House he owned and operated the Dutchess Motor Lodge in Wingdale, N.Y. He was also employed as a salesman for both the Metropolitan Insurance and U.S. Leasing. An avid golfer, Mr. Carney was involved in amateur drama as an actor and also had a great love of singing. Survivors include his companion, Judith Dreyer of Canaan, CT; a son, James J. Carney and wife Kelly of Pawling, N.Y. and a daughter, Catherine Richman and husband Joseph of Battery Park, N.Y. Also survived by three grandchildren, William Richman, Robert Richman and Catherine Alexis Richman; a sister and brother in law, Norah and Anton Holic of Wingdale and a nephew, Robert Holic also of Wingdale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday April 15 at 11AM from St. Bridget's Roman Catholic Church in Copake Falls with the Rev. Joseph Falletta, pastor, officiating. Friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 2:00 - 4:00 & 7:00 - 9:00 PM at the Peck and Peck Funeral, Route 22 in Copake, N.Y. Interment will be in New St. Bridget's Cemetery, Copake Falls N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to Foothills Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care, 32 Union St., Winsted, CT 06098.
