Francis B. Albregts, 88, of Lafayette, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at Clinton House Health and Rehab in Frankfort.

He was born Nov. 22, 1922 in Fowler to the late Joseph H. and Louise Snouwaert Albregts. He was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

He married Leah Brouillette on Dec. 27, 1943 in Dunnington. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, John F. "Jack" Albregts, Thomas A. Albregts (wife: Erin) and Gregory J. Albregts, all of Lafayette; two daughters, Linda K. McDowell (husband: Kenneth) of Mission Viejo, California and Sandra J. Rock (husband: Charles) of Lafayette; two sisters, Kathryn Riehle of Lafayette and Irene Woodruff of West Lafayette; six brothers, Chester (wife: Betty), Joseph (wife: Sharon), William and James Albregts, all of Lafayette, Cecil Albregts (wife: Maude) of Alamo, Texas, and Dick Albregts (wife: Cecelia) of Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren: Jonathan Albregts of Houston, TX, Camille Morrison (husband: Rich) of Lafayette, Shane Albregts (wife: Adrienne) of Austin, TX, Jennifer McDowell of San Francisco, CA, Kimberely Schorr (husband: Justin) of Antioch, CA, Aaron Albregts of Chicago, Blake Albregts and Payton Albregts, both of Lafayette, Katherine Matson (husband: Kyle) of Indianapolis, and Sean Rock of Chicago; six great-grandchildren, Morgan, Eliza, Nikki, Kaysee, Sydney, and Louie and several nieces and nephews.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a sergeant in the Medical Corps. He served in the European theater and was awarded a Bronze Star with cluster and a Purple Heart.
