Obituary: JOHN WESLEY WINDON (from Clarksburg Telegram April 1, 1941)
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Young-Davis Funeral home for John Wesley Windon, 72, a former resident of Wilsonburg who died yesterday morning in Steubenville, O. Burial will be made in Greenlawn cemetery. The body arrived here early this morning. The Rev. Loyal Williams, of the Wyatt Baptist church will be in charge.
Mr. Windon, who farmed and did other work in this section, died at the home of a son, Zina Windon, with whom he had lived since last fall. Mr. Windon had been ill for many months.
Survivors include, beside the son, four daughters, Mrs. Mabel McIntyre, of Hollywood, Calif.; Mrs. Beulah Johnson, of Joseph, Maryland; Mrs. Lulu Griffith, of Wilsonburg, and Mrs. Emma Valent, of Perry Mine; two brothers, Joe Windon, of 614 South Fifth street, and Charles Windon, of Wilsonburg; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Ricker, of Pennyan, N.Y.; Mrs. Maggie Hurst, of Wallace, and Mrs. Mary Childers, of Steubenville; fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
