Lucille "Lucy" Richardson, 78, of Canton, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah, Iowa.

Lucy was born March 22, 1932, in Spring Valley, to Gilman and Viola (Horsman) Anderson. She attended a country school near York, then graduated from the Harmony High School in 1952. On April 21, 1956, she married Gaylon Richardson at the Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony. She helped on the farm east of Canton where they lived until 1995, when they moved into Canton.

She was a member of the Canton-Scotland Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed helping on the farm and raising chickens, her flowers and garden, but especially spending time with her family and babysitting the grandchildren.

Lucy is survived by her husband Gaylon of Canton; four children, Kim (Dave) Wangen of Harmony, Stacey, Scott, and Tami (Doug) Marin all of Canton; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Gilma (Myron) Scheevel of Harmony; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by
her parents.

Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at the Canton-Scotland Presbyterian Church in Canton, with the Rev. Amy Perkins officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Bristol Center Cemetery.

Visitation will be 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the church on Friday.

Mengis Funeral Home in Mabel is assisting with arrangements.
