Early San Fernando Valley pioneer and developer (a land sales agent for the Los Angeles Suburban Homes Co., c. 1910), particularly the community of Van Nuys. A backer for the construction of the Los Angeles Aqueduct and later became a commissioner for the L.A. Department of Water and Power (1924). Known as "the Father of Van Nuys". Whitsett Ave. which traverses through North Hollywood and Studio City is named for him.
