Lewis Price Huey was a Justice of the Peace, post master and store operator. His signature is common on documents in the Jackson county court house. Price and his brother Allen grew up near Cherry Valley and were known to play mock war by throwing rocks at people.

Death notice from the Newport Weekly Independent, January 30, 1914:

"L. P. Huey of Cache township, aged 57 years, died last night from pneumonia and was buried this afternoon at 2:30 at McCall's graveyard. The deceased was a well-to-do farmer and an excellent man in his section of the county. He is survived by his wife and several children who have the sympathy of many friends in their sorrow."
