Son of Henry Chandler and Mehitable (Bean) Chandler. Henry Chandler died in 1801 and his wife in 1813. Henry and Mehitable Chandler are buried in the East Wilton Cemetery, Franklyn Co., ME.
Hubbard Chandler was one of five children. Husband 1st of Susanna Robbins in 1828, but she died after 18 yrs of marriage. They had two children.
Husband 2nd of Ann (Noyes) Hubbard. They had one child, Ann Marston Chandler born in 1851. Rev. Chandler was converted and baptized before age 20 by his mother's brother, Rev. Jeremy Bean. He then began to preach and connected himself with the Second Wilton church, preparatory to preaching in all the towns around and doing evangelistic work, holding revivals with great success. He was ordained at Phillips, ME, June 9, 1822, by Rev's Samuel Hutchins and John Foster. His travels as an evangelist in Maine extended to 120 towns and plantations. All the while, he supported himself, not receiving $50 a year for his labors. Though he was not favored with an extensive education, yet, he was gifted by nature. He was very conversant with Scripture. As a speaker, he was dramatic and was mighty in persuasive powers to move sinners. His earnestness and consecration enabled him to accomplish a great work. He raised up quite a number of churches in the new settlements he visited. August 12, 1866, three months before his death, he was attacked by his last sickness while preaching. He died in West Poland, ME., Nov. 5, 1866 in his 69th year. His second wife survived him.
