Word was received here Monday night of the death of James B. McCready at his home in Cottonwood Falls. His death was very sudden as he was in apparently good health the day before. Heart trouble is said to have been the cause. The funeral services will be held at Cottonwood Falls tomorrow afternoon and interment will be made at Bennington. The body will arrive here on the 8:45 train Friday morning for transfer to Wells, and burial will be made that afternoon in the Bennington cemetery. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of the entire community in this, their hour of sadness.

James H. McCready
Jas. H. McCready, eldest son of John B. and Sarah A. McCready, was born near Hookstown, Penn., in 1862 and died suddenly Monday evening, April 28, 1913, of valvular heart trouble. He was married to Miss Mary E. Stewart of Hookstown, Pa., August 20, 1884. Two children were born to this union, Edith B., now Mrs. White of Bennington, Kansas, and Neva M. In 1888 he moved with his family to Ottawa county, Kansas, where they made their home until 1908, when he moved to Greenwood county, and from there, three years ago, to Chase county, where he settled, first in Strong City and later in Cottonwood Falls. He was in the cattle business for about twenty years.
He, with Mrs. McCready, made confession of faith and joined the church in 1885, since which time he has been an earnest worshipper and devout Christian. He joined the Cottonwood Falls Presbyterian church by letter, Nov. 20, 1910, and was ordained an elder of the church April 9th, 1911. Two years ago last sabbath he accepted the position as teacher of an organized Men's Bible Class, which has prospered greatly in his hands and is a power in the church work. He leaves a wife and two daughters, one son-in-law, his father, mother, and brother, Frank.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church this Thursday afternoon, May 1st, at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. A. Gilmore, and the body was shipped to Bennington Friday morning, interment being made in the cemetery at that place. The floral offerings were many and only show the high esteem in which the departed was held by the many friends he has made during his short stay in the county. ---- Chase County Leader
