Frances was born March 17, 1926, in Chicago, the daughter of Walter and Lydia (Fork) Koehler. She married Kenneth A. Peterson on June 21, 1945, in Kentucky; he preceded her in death on March 1, 2000.
Mrs. Peterson was a home maker and a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Mt. Vernon. Frances was a member of the GreenTree Red Hat Society. She was an avid reader, bingo, and pinochle player. She was a diehard Cubs fan turned Cardinals fan. Frances was a loving aunt.
Frances is survived by one brother, Kenneth A. Koehler of Bluford; three nieces, Linda Chmelar of Bluford, Nancy Magnuson and husband Robert of Iuka and Charlene Rosa and husband Victor of Bonnie; one nephew, Edward Koehler and wife Tish of Bluford; three great nephews, Jeff Wiggins, Randy Spell and wife Gina and Matt Rosa; one great niece, Jennifer Rosa; four great great-nieces, Brittany, Randa, Jackie and Carey Spell; and also four great great-nephews, Jeremy Spell, Aryn Wiggins, Chris Wilson and Michael Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant sons, one sister, Phyllis Koehler; one sister-in-law, Helen Koehler; and also one great nephew, Marvin Spell Jr.
Funeral Services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Josepha Lecke officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Entombment will be held at Acacia Park Cemetery in Chicago.
For those wishing, memorials may be given to the American Parkinson Disease Association or the Faith Lutheran Church and will be accepted at the Newell Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.
