Mary M. Bennin, age 93, of Manitowoc, died Monday morning, January 31, 2011 at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc.
She was the former Mary M. Langenhahn born July 13, 1917 in Sheboygan, daughter of the late August and Margaret (Schneider) Langenhahn.
Mary attended school at the former Woodland School near School Hill.
She worked at the Salvatorian Publishing Co. in St. Nazianz after finishing school.
On November 4, 1936 she married Clarence G. Bennin at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill.
Her husband Clarence preceded her in death on December 12, 1974.
Mary was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church for over 60 years.
She enjoyed reading and was an historian who saved newspaper clippings, local events and family events for many years.
Mary raised a big family of 8 children, and always had a big smile on her face and great love for her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was a soft spoken person with a quick wit and a deep love of God.
She is survived by 3 sons, Kevin (Debra) Bennin, DePere, Dean Bennin, Fond du Lac, Wayne (Janet) Bennin, Howards Grove; one daughter, Karen Timreck, Manitowoc and one daughter-in-law, Susan Bennin, Sheboygan. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Mark Smaxwell, Two Rivers, Greg (Michelle) Smaxwell, Valders, Stacy (Dennis) Hartlaub, Newton, Brian (Therese) Timreck, Plymouth, Heidi (Jamie) Vertz, Sheboygan, Michelle (Luke) Hickman, Sheboygan, Todd (Miyoko) Bennin, Everett, WA, Eric (Keyomie) Bennin, Sheboygan, Jennifer Menzer, Sheboygan, Josh Bennin, Sheboygan, Kimberly Bennin, DePere, Benjamin Bennin, DePere, Julianna Bennin, Fond du Lac, Andrew Bennin, Howards Grove, Jodi Bennin, Spokane, WA, Lee Bennin, Howards Grove; 15 great- grandchildren; 5 great- great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Bernard (Sophie) Dunn, Manitowoc and one sister-in-law, Rosalie Dunn, Sheboygan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, three sons and one daughter-in-law, Keith Bennin, Lee Bennin, Dale & Helen Bennin; one daughter, Mercedes Smaxwell; three grandchildren, Pamela, David & Scott Smaxwell and 2 sons-in-law, Martin Smaxwell and Joseph Timreck. She is also preceded in death by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Alice (Sigward) Rugowski, Marion (Gilbert) Born, Adeline (Clem) Bombinski, William (Jean) Bennin, Robert Dunn and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Benjamin Bennin and Olive Bennin Dunn.
The funeral Mass for Mary will be celebrated Friday, February 4, 2011 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill with Rev. Michael Bigley officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
