SPRING GARDEN - Funeral services for Mr. J.T. Anderson Jr., age 87, of Spring Garden, were Sunday, September 16 at 3:00 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with The Rev. Tommy Ledbetter officiating. Burial followed at Carmel Cemetery.
Mr. Anderson died Friday, September 14, 2007, at the Cherokee County Nursing Home.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Evelyn Anderson; two daughters, Peggy Keasler (Jerry) and Brenda Kirk (Sam), all of Spring Garden; one sister, Margaret Allen of Piedmont; one brother, Norman Anderson of Spring Garden; seven grandchildren, Shirley Bone, Sandra Gowens, Dana Payne, Alan Floyd, Tony Kirk, Shane Kirk and Lorrie Kirk Goss; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tony Kirk, Shane Kirk, Alan Floyd, Chris Payne, Charles Allen and Mark Anderson.
Mr. Anderson was a lifelong resident of Spring Garden. He was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran, served as a Spring Garden School Trustee, served on the ASCS Committee for Cherokee County Farmer's for several years, was a retired farmer and member of Goshen United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Anderson and Nettie Stewart Anderson; a daughter, Patsy Simpson; a sister, Arlis Anderson Law; a brother, Rev. Lamar Anderson; grandchildren, Judy Simpson and Danny Simpson; and a great-grandson, Jerry Fuqua
