Mr. Hayward "Pete" M. Millstead, 78, of 604 Cauthen St., passed away Sunday, March 11, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.

He was born April 18, 1922, in Winnsboro. He was the son of the late Issac Marcus Millstead and Nishie Waters Millstead. He was retired from Aragon Mills after 29 years of service. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Hejzah Shrine Temple. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Frank Roach Post No. 34.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jim Neal officiating. Burial will be held at Grandview Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends tonight, March 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel.

Mr. Millstead is survived by his wife, Margaret Boyter Millstead; two daughters, Gail Hammond and Connie James, both of Rock Hill; and his sisters, Hazel Rayburn of Rock Hill. Mr. Millstead had three grandchildren, Chris James, Jessica James and Ken Hammond, all of Rock Hill; and three great-grandchildren, Kody James, Kenley Hammond, and Kaitlyn Hammond, all of Rock Hill.
