Charles T. Hamilton, Sr., age 73 years, late of 1202 Connecticut Ave., Thursday, July 26, 1973 at silver cross hospital, following lingering illness. Born in Tripoli and a Joliet resident for 60 years. Was a Joliet businessman, restaurant and tavern operator. Survived by his wife Anna, née Christiansen, one son Charles T. Hamilton Jr. of Joliet, five daughters, Mrs. Dominic DeAcetis ( Phyllis), Mrs. John Varman (Charlotte) of Joliet, Mrs. Frank Huss (Thyre) of Royal, Iowa, Mrs. Raymond Soland (Patricia) and Mrs. George Sandiford Jr. (Janet) of Joliet, 36 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. One brother, Steve, in Greece, four sisters, Mrs. George Paros (Tessie) of Joliet, Mrs. Jean Labroponios, Mrs. Stamata Koutri, Beth Hamilton in Greece. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by one daughter, Joy Lynne (1970), one son James LaVerne (1939) one grandson, John T. Varman, parents Theodore and Georgia, one brother, Harry. Funeral services will be held at the Gerald Dames & Sons Funeral Home at 309 Sherman St., Monday at 11 AM. Rev. Harold J. Bolm officiating. Interment in Elmhurst Cemetery. Member of the Loyal Order of the Moose. Friends may call 7 to 9 PM Saturday or 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Sunday. -Herald News, June 27, 1973.
