A. L. (Link) Hale, 77, of Alton more than 50 years, Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock
the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Well, in Overland, Mo.

Five days ago Mr. Hale had been removed fron Alton Memorial Hospital to the Well home in Overland. He had spent most of time in the last two or three years
at Overland and had come to Alton to visit among relatives at Thanksgiving time.

While he was here, his illness began and became serious. He was a patient in Alton Memorial Hospital three Weeks before being taken to Overland. His condition had been serious from the begining, and relatives were aware of the fact that he could not recover.

He had been employed at the Federal Lead Co. soon after this plant was built at Alton in 1901. Later he went to work for the Standard Oil Co. when the Wood River refinery was built. He continued with Standard until 10 years ago, when he was retired.

On June 28, 1938, Hale and his wife observed their golden wedding. She died four years ago.

Surviving are five daughters and two sons 26 grand children and 12 great grand children.

Hale was a native of Kentucky, born May 29, 1866, and came to Illinois with his father, a Civil War veteran, when a young man. He and his wife lived in Alton 53 years.

The surviving children include Mrs. Chester Walker, Mrs. Earl Medhurst, and Leslie Hale, of Alton, William Hale of Cottage Hills Mrs.. Helen Fulks, of Jerseyville,
Mrs. Arthur Wells of Overland, Mo., and Mrs. Orville Cohagen of Fairmont, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. Hale also reared a grandchild, Mrs. Fred Garrod, daughter of Mrs.
Fulks after her father died when she was an infant.

Surviving also are two brothers, Dr. J. P. Hale, Washington avenue, and Phillip G. Hale of Godfrey; and three sisters, Mrs. Fred Beatty of Alton, Mrs. Josephine Hill of East Alton, and Mrs. Demerls Jenkins of West Frankfort, Ill.

Mr. Hale, was a member of the Edwards Street Assembly Of God church and had been active in the work of the church since its organization.

The body was brought to Alton this morning and is at Streeper funeral home pending funeral arrangements.

Funeral rites for A. L. Hale, 77, who died Tuesday, will be conducted at the Edwards Street Assembly of God Church at 3:30 p.m. Friday. The body may be seen at the Streeper funeral home after 5 p.m. today until 1 p.m. Friday, when it will be taken to the church to lie in state. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.
