Son of Robert Duckworth and Gladys Karnes Duckworth. Husband of Ruth Carolyn Garner Duckworth. Father of Martha Ruth Duckworth

He served in the U.S. Navy during Korean WarRobert Dow Duckworth, 74, of Eldorado, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at Ferrell Hospital.

On June 14, 1964, he married Ruth Carolyn (Garner) Duckworth, who survives.

Robert was born in Eldorado on Oct. 17, 1936, the son of the late Gladys Grace (Karns) and Robert L. Duckworth.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Prior to retirement he worked as a electronic technician for Ameren CIPS at the Newton Power Station and as a member of IBEW Local No. 702 in West Frankfort.

In addition to his wife Robert is survived by a daughter, Martha Ruth Duckworth of Evansville, Ind.

Funeral services will be held at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, with the Rev. Julie Allison officiating. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Eldorado First United Methodist Church or the Shriners Children's Hospital and both may be left at the funeral home.
