He was born Oct. 13, 1900, in Marion County, Illinois, and was the son of John and Lou Williams Ashworth.
He married Goldie Alvis, May 20, 1923, at Salem. She survives, along with two daughters, Mrs. Betty Conley and Mrs. Martha Morton; three sons, Bob, James and Jack; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Roy Woodward;; two brothers, Archie and Stanley.
He was preceded In death by one son and one sister. He had resided near Salem and moved to the Anchor Community in 1954.
