PORT HURON -- James E. Spooner, 68, of 3448 Dykeman Road, died Wednesday, May 27, 1981, in Port Huron Hospital after a long illness. He was born May 22, 1913 in Roseburg, and had lived in the Port Huron area most of his life. He married Ruth Ann Chapman May 8, 1937. in Bowling Green, Ohio.

Mr. Spooner was a former employee of the Yeager Bridge Co.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. George (Helen) Hastings and Mrs. Linda Swinson, Both of Port Huron, and Mrs. Dale (Connie) Willhelm, North Street; two sons, Cleveland Spooner, Owosso, and Richard Chapman, Florida; two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Cote, Port Huron, and Mrs. Nettie Kitridge, Carlsbad, N.M.; a brother Ray, Port Huron; 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A son James E. Jr., died Oct 11, 1938. A daughter, Lynette R., died July 31, 1936. A son Robert D., died Aug 3 1962.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Arthur Smith Funeral Homes=South Chapel. The Rev. Richard Rolfe of the Free Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ray and James E. Spooner, George W. Hastings, Robert Cote, Jeff Swinson and David Willhelm.
