Val, born in Vermont, was a decorated U.S. Navy veteran who served proudly during World War II and the Korean War. He was married to Dorothy M. Bagdziewicz for 25 years until her death in 1991. He is survived by his daughter, Diana L. Keeler; and his grandchildren, Kayla Perusin, Ashley Perusin and Michael Keeler. Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Graveside services and burial will be at 9 a.m. Feb. 22, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego.
