Lt. William Page Jones (died 9 Sept 1841, in the 22th year of his age age) was the son of Maj. Gen. Roger Jones and Mary Ann Mason (Page) Jones. He was probably born in Clarke County, Virginia.

Lt. Jones received his diploma from the West Point Military Academey in July 1840. He died of a concussion received near Fort McHenry when he was thrown from his horse. Several cows suddenly came out from a hedge and crossed their path. Lt. Jones was rendered insensible from the moment of receiving the fatal injury, and never spoke afterward. He expired the following morning at 4:30 am.

"The remains of Lieut. Wm. P. Jones were on Saturday last removed from the private vault where they had been temporarily placed, to Green Mount Cemetery, and finally interred, This sad ceremony was attended by the bereaved father, Gen. R. Jones, and a few mourning relatives and friends, under a military escort of U.S. dragoons, commanded by Capt. Ringgold.* The Rev. Dr. Wyatt performed the services with great feeling and solemnity."

*The company of Capt. Samuel B. Ringgold (1796–1846) was called the 'Flying Artillery' because they employed artillery pieces that could be moved quickly.
