Abrahm W. Cram, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He passed away at home Jan. 16, 2004, surrounded by his family whom he dearly loved.
He was born June 19, 1925, in Anderson where he was a life long resident
He was a 1943 graduate of Anderson High School, however, he missed graduation ceremonies to join the U. S. Navy. He served his country during World War II in the Asian Pacific Theatre.
Retired from General Motors in 1989, he had also worked at Dietzen's Bakery for many years.
He was a charter member of New Hope Christian Church, where he served for many years as a deacon and as leader of Young At Heart Bible Study. He will be greatly missed by his church family. He was member of VFW Post 266, enjoyed I.U. basketball, Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, camping and woodworking. He will be missed by all who received his crafted gifts over the years.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Allamae (Abney) Cram, who was always the love of his life; his sister, Lola (husband, Paul) Jessup of Anderson; three sons, Stephen (wife, Diane O'Brien) Cram, Daniel (wife, Betty Shriver) Cram and Brian (wife, Roxane Buckley) Cram, all of Anderson; grandchildren, Erica and Shawn Cosgrove of Muncie, Marcey and Ryan Flynn of Lawrence and Jeremy and Michael Cram of Anderson; three great-granchildren, Ian, Haleigh and Alex; brother-in-law, George (wife, Joan) Abney of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
The earthly world has lost a great teacher, parent and mentor, but the Heavenly beyond has gained an angel who will watch over us all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rexford and Pansie Cram.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service, 229 S. Rangeline Road, Anderson, officiated by the Rev. Gerald Burnett and John Hannum. Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW 266.
Calling hours are from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made, through the funeral home, to New Hope Christian Church or to St. John's Hospice.
