John Liptak, 88, of 714 Lackawanna Ave., Mayfield, died October 29, 2000 at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. Born March 24, 1912 in Mayfield, son of the late Alex and Antonia Kozakowski Liptak, he was employed as an electrician by the state Department of Transportation prior to retirement. He was a member of St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Church, Jermyn. He was a graduate of Mayfield High School, where he excelled in football, and attended the University of Alabama. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 610, Mayfield. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary and Julia Liptak, and Libby Armentano, and a brother, Michael. The funeral was from St. Tikon's Russian Orthodox Church, South Canaan. Interment, St. Tikon's Cemetery, South Canaan. Arrangements by the Rycak-Harrison Funeral Home Inc., 901 Lackawanna Ave., Mayfield.
