WEDDINGTON, Wilson C. (b. 1847 Anderson, IN; d. 1923) Wilson served as sheriff of Buena Vista County, Iowa for twelve years and in 1890, the Weddington family moved to California. While in the San Fernando Valley, Wilson bought a large parcel of property located at what is now Lankershim Boulevard and Riverside Drive in North Hollywood. The family planted a fruit orchard and in 1893, Wilson sold a portion of his land to the Southern Pacific railroad to build a branch line. Weddington Avenue in the San Fernando Valley is named for the family. (Information by Tony Scott)
