---George Wallace Collins, 90, of LaPlata, died at 2:20 Saturday morning in a Kirksville hospital where he had been a patient only four days.
---The son of Burthaer J. and Luella Spencer Collins, he was born October 15, 1880 east of LaPlata. On December 21, 1904 at Macon, he married Effie Ethel Wilson who preceded him in death on October 15, 1967. Also preceding him in death were one brother, John M. Collins who died of injuries received in an automobile accident on March 12, and two sisters.
---Surviving are one son, Rodney Collins of LaPlata; one daughter, Mrs. Leland (Faye) Barnett of LaPlata; one foster daughter, Mrs. John (Hazel) Biddinger of Vermilton, OH; three brothers, Walter Collins, Thomas Collins and Tye Collins, all of LaPlata; two sisters, Verlinda Wilson and Mrs. Archie (Beulah) Hodges, both of LaPlata, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
---Mr. Collins spent most of his life in the New Harmony area where he was engaged in farming with the exception of two years he resided in OK.
---In 1947 he moved to LaPlata and in December 1970 moved to the LaPlata Nursing Home.
---He was a member of the former New Harmony Church where he served as an elder. Later his membership was transferred to the Community Presbyterian Church in LaPlata.
---Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home in LaPlata. Burial was in the LaPlata Cemetery.
---Bearers were Leland Easley, Roy Jackson, Scott Gault, Holland Clem, Claude Self, and Lewis Gene Wilson.
