August 30,1900 - Carrolton Democrat
Harry Eugene, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. E.E.Farnham, died at his home in the southeastern part of this city at 12:30 to-day, of typhoid pneumonia. Harry was six years old Jan. 1,1900, a bright manly little fellow, the idol of his father and mother, of a kind and loving disposition. Seven months ago he had a severe spell of sickness, but he recovered from this and was the same bright and lovable child; three months ago another hard spell of sickness almost overcame him. For days it was feared that he could not withstand the attack, but at last he began to mend and was rapidly regaining his health when the third and final illness came on. It soon developed into Typhoid Pneumonia and later brain complications. This was too much for his frail little body, and after days of suffering, the end came to-day at noon. Through all his sickness he was the same quiet patient little fellow, and the end came quietly and peacefully. Though his life in this world was of a few days and full of pain and suffering, his spirit has gone to that other world where pain and suffering are unknown. The funeral will be held from the family residence Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock.

The funeral of Mr. and Mrs. E.E.Farnham's little son, Harry Eugene, was held at the family residence Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Scores of our people were present to extend to the bereaved parents their sympathy and to pay a last tribute to the bright little fellow who had thus early in life been called to the better world. Reverand R.A.Austin made a short talk, full of comfort to the bereaved ones. Reverand E.F.Dawson assisted in the service at the house and closed with a prayer at the grave.

Harry's illness was the result of a drowning several months prior to his death. His father Eugene Ellis Farnham rescued and resucitated him. He apparently sustained a lung infection which eventually resulted in a fatal pneumonia.
