The son of William Craddock and Mary Charlotte, Sydney was born at Barrackpore, Bengal, India, but grew up in the south of England. He came to the Islands in 1884 as surgeon of the Portuguese emigrant vessel Dacca. On May 4, 1887, in Honolulu, he married Miss Catherine L. Webster. At age 29 he succumbed to an illness and was survived by his wife. He served as government physician for the district of Hanalei, as well as being a member of the RCS and the SRCP of London.
