Pioneer Resident Of Hugo Buried in Mt. Olivet Today

Mrs. Sallie L. Straughn, aged 78 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.S. Persons, early yesterday evening.
Funeral services were conducted at 3:30 o'clock at the First Christian church with Reverend W.E. Ferguson in charge. Interment took place following the services in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, with the Snow Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Sallie Lucinda Straughn, daughter of Colonel William M. and Elizabeth Coffey was born August 11, 1858 in Blandville, Kentucky, where she grew to womanhood.
She received her education in Blandville Jr. college and graduated from St. Mary's college for girls at Cairo, Illinois.
She was married to Charles H. Straughn at Blandville, Ky., May 9, 1878. To this union were born five children, four of whom survive. They are, Mrs. J.S. Persons, Hugo; O.E. Straughn, W.C. Straughn, G.B. Straughn all of Dallas, seven grand children and two great grand children.
Mr. and Mrs. Straughn moved to Hugo in 1907 and since the death of her husband in December, 1931, she has made her home with her daughter Mrs. J.S. Persons. Mrs. Straughn was baptized at the age of 16 years into the Christian church and has been a faithful worker until her untimely death yesterday.
Pall bearers were Bill Biard, Polly Wynn, Guy Burrous, R.C. Newton, Roy Marshall and E.R. DeWeese.
