She became a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield in 2001 when the two Communities merged. She received her early education at St. Peter's School and was graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy both in Rutland, VT. She earned a BS degree from the College of St. Rose, Albany, NY and a MED from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI. Sister taught at St. Charles School, Bellows Falls, VT and St. Peter's in Rutland. She served as Principal at Christ the King School and St. Peter's School, Rutland and Currier Memorial Grade School, Danby, VT. Sister also taught at College of St. Joseph, Rutland in the Education Division. In addition, she served as the Elementary Supervisor for the Bennington/Rutland Supervisory Union. She retired to St. Joseph Residence, Rutland, VT in 1996. Among the honors that Sister received was the Certificate of Special Recognition of the Vermont Headmasters' Association, Inc. for exemplary leadership in Establishing Outstanding School and Community Rapport. Also, she was named a police Commissioner for the city of Rutland.
In her retirement, Sister was active in the Head Start Foster Grandparent program. In addition to her Sisters in Community, she is survived by cousins. The wake will take place on Thursday, February 17th at Mont Marie from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a prayer service at 3:00 pm. There will be a wake on Friday, February 18, at 10:00 am with a prayer service at 10:30 am at Mt. St. Joseph Academy Chapel in Rutland, VT.
The funeral will take place at 2:00 pm at the Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph, Mont Marie, 34 Lower Westfield Rd., Holyoke, MA 01040-2739. Arrangements entrusted to the Sampson Family Chapels, Springfield, MA and Clifford's Funeral Directors, Rutland, VT.
