My husband's mother passed away yesterday afternoon at 3:15 central time after a lingering illness.
She is the mother of 4. Shirley Hurless, (husband Terry), Alonzo,(Fee), (wife, Janet), Barbara Smart, (husband, Howard) and Phillip, (wife, Billie). She has 16 grandchildren, 2 who have proceeded her in death, Michelle Walker & Adam Smart. She has many great grandchildren.
After the death of her husband, Mack in 1977, she got her GED and went to nursing school and became a PRN!! I was always amazed at what she accomplished at that time and worked as a nurse until a stroke took her down in 1990. After that, it seems through the years, her health just declined. She needed to live with her daughter, Shirley until she needed to be put in a nursing home for her own safety. That is where she stayed until she died.
We knew this day would come, but it did not make it any easier when this day arrived. She will be lovingly missed by all. Even though we did not see her much, we knew she was "there"! Now, I feel she looks down upon us all at 1 time and knows we all grieve for her.
You are very loved & you will be very MISSED! What a wonderful legacy you have left behind with all the beautiful people that are in this world because of YOU!!
Rest In Blessed Peace Mom!!
Funeral and burial were held on Feb. 27th. Her ashes were "laid to rest" next to Dad Walker yesterday. Mom, I have a lifetime of memories of you, good & bad, but some so comical, I keep those in the front of my mind to make this all ok, if that makes sense. God Bless You. Thank You for being "MY MOM" too and the laughter you DID bring into my life. You held me in good times and bad. You were there in good times and bad. You WILL LIVE FOREVER IN MY HEART. I did not need to be at the funeral to pay respect to you my dear mother in law, I talked to you all day long and you made my heart feel at ease. I know you heard, I know you comforted your baby boy as he lay in the bed on the day of your funeral with his BP so high, we thought we were loosing him too, but I WILL ALWAYS BELIEVE YOU GOT HIM THROUGH IT! May your eternity in Heaven be as wonderful and full of the love we are told it will be. I know Michelle STILL has ahold of your hand as she walks with her grandma throughout the streets of gold. You taught me alot in this lifetime. For that mom, I so thank you. No matter what anyone says, you taught me so much about life, maybe more than my own mom, I LOVE YOU FOREVER!!
