Hon John Clarke, of Columbiana County, OHIO, was born in Antrim, Ireland in 1814. He was of Quaker Origin. In 1832, he began to prepare for the study of law. In October 1835, he was admitted to the bar by the Supreme Court on the Circuit and entered into the practice of law at New Lisbon. He served 2 terms as Prosecuting Attorney of Columbiana County, one term as Judge of Common Pleas Court, under appointment of Governor Medill. In 1847 he married Melissa Hessin.
