She married Ben Raisland on June 27, 1943, when he was home on furlough, then went with him to Salinas, Calif. where she worked in a dehydrating plant. Later, they moved to Sioux Falls, S.D.; Flora, Miss.; Aberdeen, Md.; and Macon, Ga.
Edna and (their daughter) Carol stayed with her folks in Columbus while Ben was in Guam. After his honorable discharge, the family lived on the Boulder, north of Reed Point, north of Big Timber and in Big Timber.
Edna worked at he Pioneer Home for 23 years. She enjoyed her large family, visiting, square dancing, dancing, reading, crossword puzzles and playing cards.
Edna is survived by her husband, Ben; five daughters, Carol (Elmer) Schott of Emigrant, Florence Fanning of Big Timber, Nancy (Duane) Hanson of Ballantine, Una (Walt) Earl of Judith Gap and Diane Myers of Victor; three sons, Alvin (Marilyn) of Big Timber, Olen (Bobbi) of Reed Point, and Glen (Karen) of St. Ignatius; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, sister Myrtle Morse, brother Art Nygaard, grandson Tyrel Raisland and two half-sisters.
Viewing was held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23 at Stenberg Funeral Home in Big Timber. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 24, 2007 (today) at the Big Timber Lutheran Church with interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
