"The Last Roll is Called"

Mr. Benjamin Kirk of Bladensburg, died at the home of his son, George Kirk in Cherry Valley, Saturday evening at 8 O'clock. The deceased was taken sick a few days ago at Bladensburg with double pneumonia. George Kirk brought him to his home West of this city Thursday in the hope of nursing him back to health, but he grew rapidly worse until his death.

Mr. Kirk was born in Doyalstown, PA. to Charles and Hannah (Fell) Kirk and was brought to Ohio when four years old. He leaves besides a wife Charlotte, two sons, George and Frank Kirk who reside in Cherry Valley and two daughters, Sarah Jane Kirk and Mrs. Ida May Freeman od Marion Iowa. He also leaves a brother, John Kirk and a sister, Mary Kirk who live in Iowa.

Mr. Kirk was also a member of the 6th Independent Company of Ohio Volunteer Sharpshooters serving 3 years in the Civil War. He served for several months on the personal bodyguard of the late Gen. Thomas. The funeral will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the auspices of the G.A.R. Rev. Wm. Smith will officiate.
