Helen sewed parachutes in Manti during World War II. She put herself through nursing school and worked as an LPN at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, retiring after many years of service. She taught oil painting classes at the Senior Citizens Center in Springville. She enjoyed oil painting, cooking, especially making the best pies in the world, sewing for her grandchildren and quilting, singing and dancing, gardening and was a good friend to many, but most of all she loved her family.
She was an active member of the LDS Church, faithfully serving in all her callings. She served as a Temple Worker for several years and was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
She is survived by her two sons, Merrill A. and Arlene DeLange of Waleska, Georgia; Mahlon (Lon) Ferron and Rosemary DeLange of Clawson, Utah; 8 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters: Charles LaCoy and Vaunda Anderson; Warren and Lottie Anderson; Mack Anderson, Jess Anderson; Alene and Dan Beckstead; Grace and Avard Ottoson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 26, 2011 in the Springer Turner Funeral Home Chapel, 260 North 400 West in Richfield, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services.
There will be a pot-luck lunch immediately following the funeral, where friends may visit with the family, at the Richfield 7th LDS Ward Cultural Hall, 195 North 400 West in Richfield.
Grave side services and burial will be Saturday afternoon at 4:00 P.M. in the Koosharem Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
