Victor Arthur Vogelpohl, the son of Elmer and Ida (Domeier) Vogelpohl, was born November 1, 1918, in New Ulm where he attended public schools and graduated from New Ulm High School. He entered the United States Army January 6, 1941, serving in Rhineland, Germany during World War II. Following his honorable discharge September 15, 1945, he returned to New Ulm. Vic was united in marriage to Florence Johnson December 9, 1949, in New Ulm. He worked for the United States Postal Service, serving as postmaster for many years, retiring in 1983. Following his wife's death September 29, 2000, Vic continued to make his home in New Ulm until moving to St. Paul in 2009. He was a former member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

Survivors include his daughter, Kay Barber of Minneapolis; son, Dr. Thomas Vogelpohl and his wife Alison of St. Paul; two grandchildren Jennifer Domeier and her husband Mark of New Ulm, Jeffrey Paulson and his wife Gina of Hanska; three step-grandchildren Molly Lacy and her husband John of Denver, CO, Maggie Dornack of St. Paul, Patrick Dornack and his wife Julie of St. Paul; sister-in-law Lenore Eyrich of New Ulm; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to his wife, Vic was preceded in death by his daughter Marsha in 2002, brothers Ralph, Harley, Norman and Donald, and sister Ramona.
