Bernice Ella (Reuss) Benson, 90, of Danvers, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at United Hospital in St. Paul. Bernice Ella Reuss was born June 9, 1918 on the family farm in Shible Township, the daughter of Paul and Ella (Schreck) Reuss.

She grew up on the family farm and attended country grade school. As a young girl the family moved to Holloway where she attended Holloway High School, graduating as valedictorian of her class.

October 9, 1938, Bernice was united in marriage to Alfred V. Benson. They made their home in Danvers where Bernice worked as the postal clerk and Alfred was the postmaster. She retired in 1977. They were able share in 67 years of marriage before Alfred's death December 5, 2005.

Bernice was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson and Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Danvers prior to closing, where she was active as a Sunday school teacher and bible school teacher. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics, attending community sporting events gardening and riding motorcycle with Alfred in their retirement.

She is survived by her children, Dave (Gayle) Benson of Eden Prairie, Donna (Steve Olin) Benson of Lindstrom and Denise (Larry Maki) Benson of Deer River; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and sister, Ruby Reich of San Diego, CA.

Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred: daughter, Darlene Dallman; son, Donald Benson; parents; three brothers, & four sisters.
