James J. Cubley Passed on July 1, 2010. He was a dear husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and an amazing friend. He was a long time resident of Novato and a member of the Free Masons and the Druids. He leaves behind his closest friend and loving wife of 66 years Joyce Cubley. He met and married the love of his life at Alysham, England during World War II. In all those wonderful years of marriage he always found time to express his love in a gentle and kind manner and never spoke an unkind word. He would never hesitate to help people as his motto was "It doesn't hurt to help people." He is one of many who sacrificed and worked his way thru the Great Depression and performed his military duty during WWII. He will be missed by many friends and relatives. James and Joyce have children who were raised in Novato, Lois J. (Cubley) Gockel, Billie J. (Cubley) Roach and James "Robert" Cubley. James also has 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren in the area. James was born on May 16, 1920 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, son of William Thomas Cubley (Dock) and Katie Smith Cubley. He was one of seven children. Of his siblings he is survived by his brother Donald Cubley and his sister Wilma (Cubley) Hearn and many other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his brother Thomas and his sisters Jimmy Parker, Eva Meeks and Murl Reeves. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Saint Francis of Assisi located at 967 Fifth Street, Novato, CA.
