Billie L. Spear, 91, of Independence, MO, died at 3:22 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2011 at her home. Billie was born on July 18, 1919 in Richmond, MO to Edward F. and Anna L. (Denton) Henry. Survivors include one brother, Jim Henry, Richmond, four nieces, Carol Williams, Independence, MO, Nancy Sue Russell, Poplar Bluff, MO, Betty Ann McCullen, Marceline, MO and Jane McNett, Kansas City, MO, one nephew, Jim Nash, Merrimack, New Hampshire. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Fern Russell and Florence Elizabeth Nash. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Omega Hospice Group of Lee's Summit. Billie worked for Montgomery Ward for 45 years and retired as a Collector in the Collections Department in 1984. She lived most of her life in the Independence and Kansas City area. She was of the Methodist faith.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Sunny Slope Cemetery, Richmond. Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of the arrangements.
