Death at Dayton, Ohio of Herbert Warren Folger, 93, chairman of the W.H. Anderson Co., law book publishing firm, 646 Main Street, was reported Friday. He was widely known among lawyers in the Southern Ohio and Kentucky territory, which he traveled for many years. He was a son of the late Captain Albert Gardner Folger and Mary Catherine MACY Folger of New Orleans and Norwood, Ohio. His late stepmother was Marie COLE Folger. She married Albert Gardner Folger in 1878, and died in 1915.
Mr. Folger died Thursday in Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, following a brief illness.
A native of New Orleans, he earned a degree at the old Cincinnati College of Pharmacy, but turned to the publishing business when he joined the old Robert Clarke Co., on East Fourth Street, where Mills Restaurant is now located. He joined the firm of the late William H.Anderson 62 years ago. His wife, Eliza Leonora "Lila" Lynd Folger, died in 1941, and one of his twin daughters, Jeanette Lynd Folger, died in 1930. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary.
Survivors include three daughters: Miss Theresa Gordon Folger, Dayton High School assistant principal; Mrs. Elizabeth Marie Folger Gray, Hudson, Ohio, and Mrs. Alberta Gardner Folger Quinn, New Orleans; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services and burial will be in Dayton Saturday.
Herbert is in our Black family tree as my husband's maternal Great-Grand Uncle via marriage.
