Josephine H. Moore a resident of Corvallis since 1904, passed away at the family home on North 13th Street Sunday afternoon following a brief illness.

The daughter of Joseph H. and Sarah Spear Eaton, she was born February 15, 1868 at Kickapoo Ill., where she lived until as a small girl she moved with her parents to a farm near Brimfield Ill., where she was raised and received he education. She was married to Samuel Herman Moore on June 21, 1891 at Brimfield, where the couple made their home until 1898 when the family moved west.

The family settles in Oregon on the Old Ira Hunter ranch near Sulpher Springs in north Benton county. In 1904 they moved to Corvallis and for many years Mr. Moore owned and operated Corvallis Hatchery. He passed away in November 1951.

Mrs. Moore has written many pieces of poetry and several songs. She was a member of the United Evangelical church of Corvallis and the League of Western Writers.

She is survived by two sons; Merle of Corvallis, Dallas of Los Angeles; three daughters, Neva Moore of Corvallis, Mrs., Myra L. Lauridsen of Portland and Mrs. J. R. Iva Magness of Tokoma Park Md.; one niece, Mrs. Vivian Clark of Corvallis, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
