Laurance grew up in the Forest Grove community. He graduated from Cassville High School w/the Class of 1944. In Jul 1944 he was called to serve his country. Which he dis w/honor & gratitude in the US Army. He left the United States in Dec 1944 for the battlefields of France & Germany. He was wounded in battle March 1945 & received a Purple Heart for his actions. Laurance returned to the states in Jun 1945 and was honorable discharged 29 Sep 1945.
On 4 Jul 1945, he was united in marriage to Alma Lowe. After returning from war, he attended SMS & received his teaching certificate. He then taught at Hailey School. In 1952, they moved to a farm north of Cassville where they operated a dairy farm & raised their 5 sons. He also drove a school bus for 20 years for the Cassville School District. After retiring from the dairy farm, he owned, operated a small motor repair shop at his home until 2006 when ill health forced him to retire. He was a Christian.
Survivors include: his wife of 63 years; sons: Lonnie, Bill w/wife Linda, Lloyd w/wife Edna, Randy w/wife Debbie, & Stanley w/wife Jennifer; 14 grandkids; 6 stepgrandkids; 19 grgrandkids; 13 stepgrgrandkids; Siblings: Noble w/wife Kathleen, Leonard, Mrs. Mildred Harris, Mrs. Dorothy Lyall & Mrs. Eunice Moreno w/husband Joe; plus cousins, nieces, nephews & many friends.
Rev Jerry Nickle & Pastor Doyle Russell conducted the services. He was laid to rest w/military honors beside his beloved grandson Lynn.
