DeHaven, Sept. 12.--Funeral services over the remains of the late Mrs. Rhoda DeHaven, whose death occurred on Saturday morning, at the residence of her son, Mr. J. W. DeHaven, were held Sunday morning at 10 o'clock from Mr. J. W. DeHaven's home. Interment was made at Pine Grove Church, and Rev. Cooper, pastor of the M.E. Church, officiated. Mrs. DeHaven was twice married, her first husband being Mr. James Ashton, and surviving are two sons, Messrs. Janney and Sylvester Ashton, both of Shanghai, W. Va., and one daughter, Mrs. Ma'inda DeHaven of this place. Her second husband was Mr. James DeHaven, who died several years ago, leaving two sons, Messrs. Turner and James W. DeHaven, of this place, and one daughter, Mrs. Julia Luttrell, of Ganotown, Berkeley County, W. Va. She also leaves two brothers, Messrs. Thomas and Jonathan DeHaven, and one sister, Mrs. Stuart Campbell, all of this county.
Mrs. DeHaven was a woman of the most lovable character and disposition. Her life was devoted to the doing of good deeds, which gained for her a host of friends. She was in the 80th year of her age.
She had been in failing health for the past two years and while not unexpected, her death was a severe blow to her family and friends, by whom she was loved and honored.
