William was reportedly born in Ohio in 1842. He also used the name Henry S. Williams. He was a single farmer in Josephine County in southern Oregon. On 11/20/1901 he was admitted to the Oregon State Hospital, a residential facility in Salem, Oregon for the treatment of people with mental illness. He was a patient there for over 15 years. He died of cerebral arteriosclerosis on 4/13/1917 at the age of 74.
