Sam Aiken's cremated remains were never taken after his death and are still available at the Oregon State Hospital to anyone who is related.

Sam was born in Northern Ireland in the last half of the 1800s to Robert Aiken and Margary Cargill. He had a brother named Thomas who was born in 1868.

On 3/8/1943 Sam was admitted to the Oregon State Hospital, a residential facility in Salem, Oregon for the treatment of people with mental illness. He died there about 10 months later and the cause of death was said to be "senility."
