Raymond F. Hackbarth, Manitowoc resident, died Friday, December 10, 2004, at Holy Family Memorial-Medical Center, Manitowoc, following a short illness. Raymond was born April 6, 1915, at Wausau, son of the late Emil and Emma (Imm) Hackbarth. He grew up and was educated at Wausau.

On June 27, 1938, he married Lenore Berzinsky at Manitowoc. She preceded him in death February 14, 1966. He later married Bernice Van De Hey on March 13, 1980. She preceded him in death June 10, 1988. Raymond was a maltster with Rahr Malting, and later Busch Agricultural Resources, prior to his retirement in 1980.

He was a member of First Lutheran Church, and at one time, sang in the choir, Manitowoc Lodge #65, F. & A.M., York Rite Masons, Tripoli Temple, Milwaukee, Two Rivers Shrine Club, B.P.O. Elks Manitowoc Lodge #687 and Manitowoc County Historical Society.

He was a Veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. Raymond enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. An avid golfer, he fulfilled his ambition to golf at St. Andrew's Old Course in Scotland with his son, Bill. Ray also enjoyed cooking and traveling.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, William F. and Carol Hackbarth, Appleton; grandchildren, Nancy Hackbarth, Minneapolis, MN, Karen (J.C.) Gureghian, Minneapolis, MN, Michael (Tara) Hackbarth, Appleton, Diana (James) Schlafer, Minneapolis, MN, and Steven (Michelle) Kamrowski, Appleton; stepchildren, Ronald (Nancy) Van De Hey, Bonnie (John) Peters, Roger (Lisa) Van De Hey, Wayne (Cindy) Van De Hey and Susan Klenke; Ten great grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Raymond was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Funeral Services will be held 1 P.M. Friday, December 17, 2004, at First Lutheran Church, 521 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. Rev. Steven Solberg will officiate with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
