CABIN CREEK — Freda Gayle Shumate-Jones, 57, of Cabin Creek, formerly of Sabine, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011. Freda liked to spend time with her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was born on August 9, 1953 in Pineville to the late Bryan Shumate (1898-1973) and Imogene Cook-Shumate (1921-1992). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Cook (Deceased).
Survivors include her son, Paul Randall Spears II & companion Roger Kincaid of Hernshaw; daughter, Tina Shumate-Cozart & husband Kenneth Cozart of Beckley; granddaughter, Britney Fox & husband Sanford Fox of Fairdale; grandsons, Paul David Sartin of Glen Fork and Kasey Cozart of Beckley; great-granddaughter, Destiny Fox of Fairdale; sister, Phyllis Petrohovich of Richmond, Va.; nieces, Dana Thompson and Tricia Tolliver; nephews, Glen Bailey and Terry Lee Cook; grandniece, Alicia Tolliver; grandnephews, Gavin Bailey and Nathan Cook. A very special friend, Esther Ritchie of Sabine.
A celebration of Freda's life will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2011 in the Evans Memorial Chapel with Gene Reid officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. The family received friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at the funeral home.
