On June 10th, 2010 we lost our beloved father, husband, son, and friend; Duane Sivanish to an untimely death. Duane was born in Spokane Washington on November 27th, 1948. He was the first born of four boys to Herbert and Helen Sivanish. Duane is survived by his mother Helen, his wife Judi Carl, his brothers Paul, James, and Norman Sivanish. He is also survived by his four children, Duane Sivanish Jr. and his wife Priscilla, Eric Sivanish and his wife Katherine, Jake Carl, and his only daughter Ali Carl. Duane was a graduate of Joel E. Ferris High School. Duane received a degree in Criminal Justice from Spokane Community College in Police Science. He joined the Spokane Police Department in 1970 and retired in 1994. Duane studied martial arts where he held a black belt. He enjoyed fishing, river rafting, baseball, genealogy and above all attending his children's sporting and school events. Duane enjoyed documenting his children's accomplishments in sports, academics, and military service. It was easy to see his pride in his children and his love for them. It was apparent to all that his life revolved around his children and he was such a proud father. A Rosary-vigil service will be held at Hennessey Smith on Wednesday June 16th, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 17th 2010 at 10:00 a.m. and will be celebrated at Assumption Parish, 3624 W. Indian Trail Road, Spokane. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations could be made to the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery.
