Marie Teresa Ocamica Newton, loving and beloved mother, sister, amuma, great-amuma and tia, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at home with her family.

She was born August 19, 1917 in Boise, Idaho, to Antonio and Anastasia Osa Ocamica. She was one of seven sisters. She graduated from Boise High School in 1935. She married Thomas H. Newton in 1942 in Elko, NV.

She worked at CC Anderson's and Boise Payette Lumber Co until her four sons and one daughter were born, then she worked from home for Albertson's doing inventory. After her children started school she went to work for the Department of Agriculture, where she worked until 1980 when she retired. She then devoted her time babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marie was an amazingly generous, patient, and humble person. She saw the best in everyone and could not stand to see anyone doing without. We will truly miss her.

She is survived by her sister, Connie Stanley, of Longmont, CO; her five children: Jim (Sharon) Newton, of Kaysville, UT, JoAnis Shanahan, Lee Newton, Garth (Laura) Newton, and Jack Newton, all of Boise; eight grandchildren: Theresa Willhite, Tami (Bob) Brown and Matt (Tracy) Shanahan, David (Kimberly), Jennifer and Michael Newton, and Anthony and Elizabeth Newton; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; her parents; and five of her sisters: Gloria, Florence, Benita, Louise and Josephine.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 am, on Monday, February 28, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2612 W. State St., Boise. Interment will follow in the St. John's section of Morris Hill Cemetery.
